This papercutting+painting is specially made and dedicated to someone that become my rock idol, that respect for his abundant positive energy that he shared in many online/offline platform. He is Gary Vaynerchuck. He was known as Gary Vee. If you just know or read or heard Gary Vee, just googling him. You will easily find him anywhere. His achievement is solid proof that he is the man who just does the work and he lives what he preaches.

Kita sendiri biasanya juga akan melakukan sesuatu untuk mengingatkan atau merayakan suatu moment atau peristiwa. Salah satunya adalah moment ulang tahun. Dan meskipun waktu yang saya punya sangat terbatas untuk menyelesaikan karya ini, saya tidak ingin kehilangan moment penting tersebut. Moment ulang tahun Presiden RI ke 7, Bapak Joko Widodo, yaitu tanggal 21 Juni.
This gift is special for me, because not only made within 2 nights but also dedicated to people that I (and also other Philips Lighting Indonesia employees) respect. The decision to make this gift came when I heard the news that he will visit Indonesia on May 24-25 on Tuesday. Still, don’t know what kind of gift that will create. Finally, got the idea on Wednesday afternoon and start to make the sketch on Wednesday night after iftar & tarawih and start to cut the paper & apply paint on Thursday night. Rushing with time because, on Friday (May 25, 2018), we will have Town Hall Meeting at the office, including farewell with Mr. Murali Sivaraman.
Philips Lighting Indonesia as a multinational company has the official batik shirt that represents the company with batik Indonesia pattern, with two color option, white and purple. As the employee, I am proudly wearing this batik shirt, especially when business trip abroad. The response from my colleagues is amazing. Most of them love the batik and ask how to have or buy that Philips batik shirt. But then, I ask myself, what is after batik shirt? And to be exact, how to describe Philips Lighting Indonesia in one image. The image that can be applied as identity, ornament or perhaps can be applied as the gift to our guest or customer. Read more
20 year is a special number, especially for a company anniversary. And it also happened to Philips Color Kinetics. Founded in Boston on 1997, Color Kinetics (or known as CK) focus only for controllable and programmable LED for architectural lighting. Then on 2007, Philips do an acquisition to Color Kinetics, then it becomes Philips Color Kinetics (sometimes we call it PCK).
In this article, I will share the process of making Paper Cutting and Painting Cupo-Obama, based on the official portrait of Barrack Obama, who served as the 44th President of United States of America from 2009 to 2017. For the preliminary process, the portrait modified using Adobe Photoshop and Inkspace. I decided using 5 layers for the portrait itself and 2 layers for the background. It’s quite difficult to choose the color of the portrait because people will correlate or compare this vector portrait with the famous “Change” poster created by Shepard Fairey. Then my decision is using monochrome color, from black to white. Because it will create contrast when I put the monochrome portrait with a colorful background.
It all started with white papers. All layered that made with vector software transformed to A3 paper, 200 gsm thickness. Then one by one transformed into gray color gradations using water-based paint.
