Moment dalam bahasa sehari-hari bisa diartikan: kejadian pada suatu masa tertentu atau saat dimana kejadian tertentu itu terjadi. Kita sendiri biasanya juga akan melakukan sesuatu untuk mengingatkan atau merayakan suatu moment atau peristiwa. Salah satunya adalah moment ulang tahun. Dan meskipun waktu yang saya punya sangat terbatas untuk menyelesaikan karya ini, saya tidak ingin kehilangan moment penting tersebut. Moment ulang tahun Presiden RI ke 7, Bapak Joko Widodo, yaitu tanggal 21 Juni.

Paper Cutting Cupo-Obama

In this article, I will share the process of making Paper Cutting and Painting Cupo-Obama, based on the official portrait of Barrack Obama, who served as the 44th President of United States of America from 2009 to 2017. For the preliminary process, the portrait modified using Adobe Photoshop and Inkspace. I decided using 5 layers for the portrait itself and 2 layers for the background. It’s quite difficult to choose the color of the portrait because people will correlate or compare this vector portrait with the famous “Change” poster created by Shepard Fairey. Then my decision is using monochrome color, from black to white. Because it will create contrast when I put the monochrome portrait with a colorful background.

It all started with white papers. All layered that made with vector software transformed to A3 paper, 200 gsm thickness. Then one by one transformed into gray color gradations using water-based paint.

Jokowi and me

Perhaps this moment is one of many best moment happens in this 2016. My lucky moment. I am very lucky to have the opportunity to shake hand and take a picture together with President of Indonesia on Sunday, November 20th, 2016 at Pondok Indah Mall, Jakarta. Yes, it happens at the famous shopping mall in South Jakarta. He just visited Gramedia book store. When he walked outside the bookstore many people are waiting outside and for sure asking to shake hand and take a photo. I was just standing and waiting nearby and actually not expecting to take a photo because there are many Secret Service members make a barricade and not allowed people blocking the way. So I just take a photo from my smartphone. And he was getting near me.
