Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia. The city that never sleeps. The city that was now known as with the traffic jam. The city that develops and grow to become the megapolitan city. As other city identities, there are some iconic building or places that can be used to represent this city for paper cutting + painting artwork. For this experiment, I choose to use Monumen Nasional (Monas), Tugu Selamat Datang, Patung Pancoran and silhouette of the high-rise building.
Previously, I had created paper cutting +painting with The President theme. The first is Cupo-Gus Dur, or the formal name is Abdurrahman Wahid, he was the 4th President of Republic of Indonesia. The second is Cupo-Obama, as we know that he was the 44th President of United States of America.
Now, I made creation again with President theme. This time is not the president of a country but from a company. He was the President Director of Philips Lighting Indonesia. His name is Chandrasekhar Vaidyanathan. This project happened because the request of Professional Lighting Channel team that want to present a memorable gift at the farewell party of Pak Chandra on March 24, 2017. He will move from Indonesia to China as Regional Business Leader for Greater China and India. He was the Country Leader of Philips Lighting Indonesia from October 2013 until March 2017.

Not only artist, painter, designer or anyone that draw a lot in their everyday life. For a month we asked to draw using ink (it can be a fountain pen, pen, marker), minimal one drawing in one day. That’s why it called “inktober”. You can draw anything. Yes, anything. You can draw people, animal, house, car, pets, objects, character, superhero, airplane, your imagination, etc. If you have no idea what you should draw that day, the initiator of “inktober” has some keyword or theme that you can follow (please check the official Inktober2016 prompt list below). If you enjoy making a digital drawing (using tablet or software), you may join too.
Let’s call it Cupo-FKM. FKM is the initial name of this girl that her photograph made as an object of paper cutting and painting. This is the custom request from a customer that initiate to give a different gift as a birthday present. Also, request to give pink gradation and pink wooden frame. FKM is 4yrs old girl who lived in Paris.
The experiment of paper cutting to make a transition from the simple square shape and make color gradation for each layers using some color spectrum.
On this project, we are trying to maximize all layered that already cut. As you know, when we cut the paper, it will create 2 shapes. Sometimes we call it positive and negative shape. This project made on September 30, 2014.
This artwork is called Cupo-BAP and made from a photograph of our beloved colleague that resigned from the current job. BAP is the initial name of our colleague, Bayu Ade Pramudia. The hardest part of this creation is found the good photograph without asking the photo from him because this artwork was made as a secret project.
This is my first artwork for Cupo. The idea is simple. Create layered ellipses with different color gradation for each ellipse. We made it on 15 September 2013.
