The other car brand that I love is Lamborghini. This brand is consistent to create superb and spectacular car body design and set the high benchmark to other competitors. And if we follow the history of how this car was built, we will admire the spirit and passion of the founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini. Even though he and his team have no experience to build a sports car, but finally they can write the history with their golden ink. To share my admiration for Mr. Lamborghini passion, I made this artwork. This artwork is quite unique because I combine the paper cutting technique for the portrait with marker & pencil color rendering. From many cars of Lamborghini, I simply choose Lamborghini Miura that designed by Bertone. It has a simple and sexy design.

Paper Cutting Cupo-Jakarta
Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia. The city that never sleeps. The city that was now known as with the traffic jam. The city that develops and grow to become the megapolitan city. As other city identities, there are some iconic building or places that can be used to represent this city for paper cutting + painting artwork. For this experiment, I choose to use Monumen Nasional (Monas), Tugu Selamat Datang, Patung Pancoran and silhouette of the high-rise building.
Paper Cutting Cupo-Pak_CV
Previously, I had created paper cutting +painting with The President theme. The first is Cupo-Gus Dur, or the formal name is Abdurrahman Wahid, he was the 4th President of Republic of Indonesia. The second is Cupo-Obama, as we know that he was the 44th President of United States of America.
Now, I made creation again with President theme. This time is not the president of a country but from a company. He was the President Director of Philips Lighting Indonesia. His name is Chandrasekhar Vaidyanathan. This project happened because the request of Professional Lighting Channel team that want to present a memorable gift at the farewell party of Pak Chandra on March 24, 2017. He will move from Indonesia to China as Regional Business Leader for Greater China and India. He was the Country Leader of Philips Lighting Indonesia from October 2013 until March 2017.
Paper Cutting Cupo-La La Land
This paper cutting artwork inspired by the movie and the simplicity of the poster, La La Land. This movie was a nice and inspiring for me. The story seems taken from the moments that happened around us. That’s why I would like to recreate the movie poster using paper cutting and also painting. For this paper cutting artwork, I am trying to combine with lighting. Using backlight method using LED, I would like to see the effect of lighting to the papercut+painting artwork.
Paper Cutting Cupo-Obama
In this article, I will share the process of making Paper Cutting and Painting Cupo-Obama, based on the official portrait of Barrack Obama, who served as the 44th President of United States of America from 2009 to 2017. (image source: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Official_portrait_of_President_Barack_Obama_(8390033709).jpg )
For the preliminary process, the portrait modified using Adobe Photoshop and Inkspace. I decided using 5 layers for the portrait itself and 2 layers for the background. It’s quite difficult to choose the color of the portrait because people will correlate or compare this vector portrait with the famous “Change” poster created by Shepard Fairey. Then my decision is using monochrome color, from black to white. Because it will create contrast when I put the monochrome portrait with a colorful background.
It all started with white papers. All layered that made with vector software transformed to A3 paper, 200 gsm thickness. Then one by one transformed into gray color gradations using water-based paint.
Paper Cutting Cupo-GusDur
